Seedance AI review 2026: real Seedance clips made on Lovino, a vertical latte pour, waves with sound on and a 16:9 feast hall

Seedance is one of the most practical video families for short-form, and this Seedance AI review explains why in one line: it makes 5, 10 and 15 second clips, in vertical or wide shapes, with a cheap draft tier and sound you can switch on. Its one big limit is faces. The 2.x models refuse a start photo that shows a human face. Lovino offers five Seedance models, so the real question is which one to run at which step of making a Reel, a TikTok or a Short.

What is Seedance?

Seedance is the video model family from ByteDance. ByteDance describes Seedance 2.0 as a unified audio-video model that accepts text, image, audio and video inputs. Lovino exposes the parts a short-form creator needs most: a text prompt, a start photo, an optional end photo and a sound switch.

You need a Lovino account to generate, and video always spends paid credits.

Which Seedance models does Lovino offer?

Seedance 1.5 Pro5, 10 sNot selectableNoNoPaid credits

Seedance 2.55, 10, 15 s480p, 720pOptionalYesA paid plan

"A paid plan" means Plus, Pro or Max. "Paid credits" means plan credits or a credit pack. At 1080p, Seedance Lite needs Pro or Max, and the 2.x models stop at 720p.

Seedance 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.5 make clips of 5, 10 or 15 seconds at 480p or 720p, in 9:16 and 16:9, with optional sound
Seedance 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.5 make clips of 5, 10 or 15 seconds at 480p or 720p, in 9:16 and 16:9, with optional sound

What is Seedance good at for short-form video?

  • Clip length. Fifteen seconds is long enough for a single-shot Reel, or a hook you cut down later. Most image-to-video models on Lovino stop at 10.
  • Shapes. Seedance takes 9:16 for phones and 16:9 for YouTube, plus 1:1, 4:3 and 3:4, so you never crop afterwards.
  • Sound on request. On 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.5 you can switch sound on, and the model adds audio that matches the picture. It is off by default.
  • Start and end photos. Give the model a first and a last photo and it builds the move between them. Lovino's first and last frame page shows a gift box reveal made on Seedance 2.0 Fast.
  • A cheap draft tier. Run the idea at 480p first. Same prompt, lower price.
  • Realistic text-to-video on 2.5. Lovino's model list describes Seedance 2.5 as strong at realistic text-to-video. Judge it on your own prompt.

Here is a vertical Seedance 2.5 clip made on Lovino at 480p:

And one with sound switched on. Unmute it to hear the surf:

Where does Seedance fall short?

  • Faces in photos. Seedance 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.5 reject a start photo or reference that shows a human face, because the provider's filter flags it. People in a text prompt are fine, as the feast hall clip below shows. For animating a portrait, use Hailuo or Kling. For products, places, food and animals, Seedance is a strong pick.
  • Waiting time. Lovino estimates about 90 seconds for 2.0 Fast, three minutes for 2.0 and four for 2.5. Sound adds more: roughly four minutes on 2.0 Fast and six on 2.0.
  • Cost climbs with length. A 5-second 480p clip on Seedance 2.5 costs 13 credits. A 15-second 720p clip costs 87 credits.
  • No 1080p on 2.x. For full HD, use Seedance Lite or another family.
  • Two of the five need a plan. Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 are plan-only. The other three run on any paid credits.

How do you write a Seedance prompt for Reels and Shorts?

Name the shot, the subject, one movement, the light and the framing. That is one sentence, not a paragraph. Here is the real prompt behind the latte clip, taken apart:

A real Seedance prompt taken apart into shot, subject, motion, light and framing for a phone feed

Close-up of latte art being poured in a sunlit cafe, steam rising from the cup, warm morning light, vertical framing for a phone feed

For sound, say what you want to hear. This is the prompt behind the waves clip:

Waves rolling onto a rocky shore at golden hour, seagulls gliding overhead, spray catching the light, documentary handheld feel, natural ocean sound

And a 2.0 Fast clip at 16:9, to show the family's range on a busier scene:

Cinematic dolly through a candlelit medieval feast hall, banners swaying, fire crackling, cinematic warm-neutral color grade, soft directional key light, 35mm lens, shallow depth of field, natural skin tones, subtle film grain

How do you make a Reel with Seedance, start to finish?

  1. Decide the shape first. Choose 9:16 for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, and keep it for every take.
  2. Write the prompt in one sentence. Shot, subject, one movement, light, framing.
  3. Draft on Seedance 2.0 Fast at 480p for 5 seconds. If the motion is wrong, change the prompt, not the model.
  4. Add a start photo only if it shows no face. A product or place photo gives you more control than text alone.
  5. Make the keeper. Re-run the winning prompt on Seedance 2.5 or 2.0 at 720p. Go to 10 or 15 seconds only if the shot earns it.
  6. Decide on sound. Switch it on for matching audio, or leave it off and add your own track in your editor.

Which Seedance should you run?

  1. Testing an idea: Seedance 2.0 Fast at 480p, 5 seconds.
  2. A keeper for a Reel: Seedance 2.5 or 2.0 at 720p, 9:16.
  3. Sound in the clip: 2.0, 2.0 Fast or 2.5 with sound on.
  4. A reveal between two photos: any 2.x model with an end photo.
  5. No plan, only a credit pack: Seedance 2.0 Fast, Lite or 1.5 Pro.
  6. A photo with a face: not Seedance. Pick a Hailuo or Kling model.

What mistakes should you avoid with Seedance?

  • Paying for 15 seconds first. Draft at 5 seconds. The long clip is for a shot you already like.
  • Describing everything. One subject, one movement. A crowded prompt gives a muddy clip.
  • Forgetting that sound is a choice. If you need audio, switch it on. If you will add your own track, leave it off and skip the extra wait.
  • Showing what the product does not do. AI can style and present a latte, a bottle or a room. It cannot make your real product do something it does not. Use AI for the look, and keep the claims true.
  • Posting without a label. Check each platform's rules on AI-made video. Our AI content disclosure guide explains them.

How much does Seedance cost on Lovino?

The price depends on length and resolution, and it shows before you generate. The cheapest Seedance clip is 3 credits for 5 seconds on Seedance Lite. Seedance 2.0 Fast starts at 9 credits. Anyone can buy a credit pack, with or without a plan, and the pricing page has current prices. For how Seedance sits against other models, read which subscription covers Kling, Veo and Seedance.

Seedance AI review: the verdict

Use Seedance when the clip is a product, a place, food or an animal, when you want 10 or 15 seconds, or when sound matters. Draft on 2.0 Fast, finish on 2.5 or 2.0. Skip it for photos of faces; for those, our Hailuo AI review is the better start. To compare every model by what is in your photo, see which AI video model fits your photo.

Questions, answered.

Is Seedance free?

Not on Lovino. Video always spends paid credits, from a plan or a credit pack, and the free daily credits cover image tools only. Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 also need a paid plan.

What is the difference between Seedance 2.0 and 2.5?

Seedance 2.5 is the newer model, and Lovino describes it as strong at realistic text-to-video, with sound you can switch on. Both make 5, 10 or 15 second clips at 480p or 720p and need a paid plan. Neither accepts a human face as a start photo.

Can Seedance animate a photo of a person?

Not on Lovino's Seedance 2.0, 2.0 Fast or 2.5. The provider's filter rejects a start photo with a human face, though people described in a text prompt are fine. Use Hailuo 2.3, Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro or MiniMax H3 to animate a portrait.

Does Seedance make sound?

Optionally. On Seedance 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.5 you can switch sound on. It is off by default, and sound makes generation slower. Seedance Lite and 1.5 Pro make silent clips.

Which Seedance model is best for Reels?

Draft on Seedance 2.0 Fast at 480p, then make the keeper on Seedance 2.5 or 2.0 at 720p in 9:16. Check the price shown before each generation.
